Released 25 July 2007

IDP Education, Australia’s largest provider of services to international students, is launching a new Student Services Centre in Brisbane to offer assistance to the more than 61,000 students from overseas countries who enrol to study in Queensland each year.

The new IDP Student Services Centre, located near Anzac Square in Brisbane City, will be officially opened by the Honourable Paul Braddy, Chair of the Queensland Education and Training International Board, on Wednesday 25 July 2007.

IDP’s Brisbane Student Services Centre will support international students with:

  • Free course counselling, applications processing and placement
  • Information on student visas
  • City orientation services
  • IDP welcome bags for new students including free phone cards, discount vouchers, city maps and information, pens, stationery and other useful items
  • Free internet access at the Student Services Centre for students who come to Australia with IDP

Students can drop in or contact the new centre simply by dialling 1300 STUDENT (1300 788 3368) for the cost of a local call.

IDP Chief Executive Anthony Pollock said that IDP’s new Brisbane office would make IDP’s services more widely available to international students in Queensland.

“Queensland is a major and growing destination for international students who seek a quality Australian education and we are proud to be operating our new centre in this state,” Mr Pollock said.

“IDP’s new Brisbane centre will offer students who come to Queensland the support they need to reach their academic and career goals. It demonstrates IDP’s commitment to offer continuing assistance to students after they arrive in Australia.”

IDP places more students than any other organisation into Australian universities, colleges, schools and English language courses using its global network of over 70 offices in nearly 30 countries. IDP is 50 per cent owned by 38 Australian universities and 50 per cent owned by Australia’s largest online recruitment and training company, SEEK Ltd.
