IDP Education Pty Limited has appointed Andrew Thompson to the
role of Chief Operating Officer with the company.
The Chief Executive of IDP Education, Tony Pollock, welcomed Mr
Thompson saying that his extensive business experience would be a
great asset to IDP.
“During his career Andrew has played a major role in expanding
and developing businesses, and managing change in a competitive
environment. I look forward to working with him,” Mr Pollock
said.
Mr Thompson has spent the last 10 years with the Coles Myer
division, Officeworks. He commenced with them as the Business
Manager, moving to the role of General Manager, Officeworks Direct
and finally as the General Manager, Officeworks Business Direct. He
has most recently been reviewing the structure and operations of
the merchandise division of Target Australia as a management
consultant.
He has extensive operational and strategic experience as well as
qualifications and experience in corporate law with a legal firm
and local councils.
.As Chief Operating Officer, Mr Thompson will report to the
Chief Executive and be responsible for IDP Education’s sales
operations and its global network of student services centres. He
will supervise IDP Education’s operations team including the new
roles of Network Operations Manager and several Regional
Managers.
Mr Thompson will commence with IDP on Monday 4 June and will be
based in IDP Education’s Melbourne office. As part of his
introduction to the organisation, Mr Thompson will visit offices in
both Australia and the Network.
Mr Thompson’s appointment is part of an operational restructure
of IDP Education which will support the organisation in its new
form as a fully commercial entity. Other senior appointments to new
positions will be made in the next couple of months.
