South East Asia - Peter Burges
Peter has had varied roles across IDP’s operations,
including Country Director Thailand, Country Director Hong Kong,
and senior management roles in China and the Middle
East. During his tenure with the company he has been
successful in significantly increasing IDP’s student placement and
testing business. Now based in Melbourne, Australia he oversees IDP
offices in seven countries in the South-East Asia region: Thailand,
Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Cambodia,
as well as spearheading IDP’s expansion into the United Kingdom as
an education destination for IDP students.
South Asia - Harmeet Pental
Harmeet has extensive experience as country director across
India & Vietnam with Avon Products Plc & VLCC, India’s
largest health & beauty services provider. In addition,
he has extensive experience in sales and marketing, customer
service and operations, and new business development. He is
based at the IDP Gurgaon, India and South Asia Regional office
and is responsible for business growth and development in India,
Mauritius, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
Australasia - James Cauchy
James has been with IDP for the past 3 year, his main focus
has been the development of the onshore student placement business.
He has also delivered a number of key business initiatives.
Recently he has take on the management of the client relations team
as part of his Australian region function.
North Asia - Allen Jiang
Allen's career spans positions in multi-national companies
and is a graduate of Zhejiang Medical University with an MBA from
JiaoTong University, Shanghai. He heads up expert management and
student counselling teams in China and Hong Kong.
Middle East - Maher Elbakry
Maher has broad experience in multinational companies
and is recognised for his strong leadership and business and people
development capabilities. He has demonstrated an ability to build
strong teams and grow and improve businesses across a range of
environments. Maher is based in Cairo.
North America
Mark Shay, Regional Director for North America, left the company
on 20th March 2011. Mark’s goals at IDP were to establish a
presence in the U.S. market, extend the organisation’s strong
reputation, develop a credible portfolio of institutions, and raise
the bar for the agent market overall. He leaves having achieved all
of these and more.
A search will begin soon to find the appropriate person to take
the expansion through the next series of milestones. In the
meantime, daily operations will continue as usual. To ensure this,
the North America group will report to Harmeet Pental, IDP’s
regional director of South Asia.
