Australia’s best camping and caravan locations

Living and studying in Australia means you have plenty of opportunity to experience this amazing country. One of the best ways to enjoy the world-class beaches of Australia is to try camping. In fact, most of the beaches in the country have excellent camping and caravan grounds. Here you can enjoy meeting other campers, exploring the great outdoors, and seeing unique wildlife. Australia also has a great range of interesting National Parks.

1. Booderee National Park

For those who want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, but do not want to spend many days traveling, head to Booderee National Park at Jervis Bay. Located about 100 kilometres south of Sydney, Jervis Bay is known around the world as the home of some of the world’s best beaches. Campsites are open all year round, so check out the ones at Bristol Point, Cave Beach, and Green Patch.

2. Innes National Park

Located on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia, this is a favourite destination for fishermen and surfers alike. Innes National Park is a 92-kilometre park, a beautiful haven for Australian wildlife. This national park features at least eight camping areas, although most with limited amenities.  The views are sensational. Pondalowie Bay is one of the best-known camping areas, and is a great fishing destination in South Australia. 

3. Noah Beach

Located at Cape Tribulation within the Daintree National Park in Queensland, Noah Beach is another popular camping destination. The park is part of the Wet Tropics World Heritage area and usually has an abundance of wildlife. The camping area is about 50 metres from the shoreline, providing cool breeze all day, and is shaded by the forest. 

4. Cape Le Grand National Park

Located about 40 minutes away from Esperance, Western Australia, Cape Le Grand’s Lucky Bay is best accessed by 4WD. The beach is extraordinarily beautiful, with camping areas for tents and caravans. The area is perfect for boating, fishing, watersports, and swimming. Campers are allowed to bring their own gas/fuel stoves and are allowed to launch their boats from the beach. 

5. The Great Ocean Walk

This campground is located in Victoria, and made for outdoor lovers who like to rough it out. The campsites allow your own stove, and you need to bring everything with you to have a complete adventure. Some of the campgrounds to check are Devil’s Kitchen, Aire River, Camp Otway, Blanket Bay, Elliot River, Ryan’s Den, and Johanna Beach.
