The most wonderful time of the year is upon us! It’s a magical time when the River Torrens at the side door of the West End Brewery, transforms into a festive wonderland. Scenes include the Nativity Inn and Water Wheel, a Ferris Wheel, Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, the Red Brewery Truck laden with gifts, Vulcan’s Volcano and Moby Dick – who swims along the Torrens towards the Port Road Bridge. This free community event can be enjoyed night or day, with the lights turning on at dusk each evening.

Usher in the new year with spectacular fireworks displays at the famous Swan River, Rottnest Island, Mandurah and on the banks of the Cannington River. Christmas Fireworks

In the lead up to Christmas, spectacular fireworks are set to light up the Brisbane skyline. Head to these popular viewing locations to get the best views - Clem Jones Promenade, Streets Beach, River Quay and the Cultural Forecourt. Show up early to stake out a spot or join the crowds and take advantage of the Christmas festivities.

School of Rock - The Musical

School of Rock, the hit Broadway musical from legendary composer Andrew Lloyd Webber has Her Majesty’s Theatre rocking!

Based on the iconic 2003 film starring Jack Black, School of Rock is about layabout, wannabe rock star Dewey Finn who masquerades as a substitute teacher at a prep school to earn some much-needed cash. When he discovers the kids’ music class, he learns of their hidden talents and tries to mould them into a full-throttle rock band to enter the prestigious Battle of the Bands competition. But can Dewey turn these straight-A students into a guitar-shredding, mind-blowing rock group and keep the secret from the kids’ parents and headmistress?

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s new score has lyrics by Glenn Slater, and also includes songs from the original film, including “Teacher’s Pet”, “School of Rock” and “In the End of Time”.

The Crown Christmas Spectacular never disappoints. Enjoy Australia’s only 24-hour, fully-lit Christmas tree, which is massive and don’t miss out on the seven giant animated baubles that create a Christmas song compilation.

You’re in luck as until 28 December, there’s also ArtVo at Crown. Try all 12 of the 3D ‘trick-art’ paintings that will get you and your friends in the festive mood. From surfing with Santa to standing inside a snow globe, you’ll have lots of photos to share on social media.

Ideal for visitors of all ages, this an event for all Star Wars fans. You’ll have the opportunity to discover your own Star Wars identity and learn about the forces that shape you through a series of interactive stations. Who will you identify with? Luke Skywalker or Darth Vader? 

Along the way, you will also discover rare treasures from the Lucasfilm archives and see original costumes, props, models and artworks up close as you go behind the scenes of the movie-making process.
