UK student Gemma Hart was awarded International Student of the Year for her dedication to becoming a nurse. “After buying a house and having bills to pay, I found myself stuck in a boring desk job for much longer than I ever intended,” said Gemma. “As my grandmother was a District Nurse in the UK, I have always wanted to follow in her footsteps but I just wasn’t able to. It was coming to Australia and enrolling in a Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled /Division 2 Nursing) that gave me the opportunity to finally pursue my dream career.”
“Gemma was a great student to have in the classroom, her positive attitude often rubbed off on her classmates. Her passion for nursing was present in everything he did, Gemma could never get enough out of every class.” said Nursing Lecturer Hazel Neal. Since graduating Gemma has been sponsored by a health care provider where she now works as an Enrolled Nurse. Gemma plans to study a Bachelor of Nursing at university which will bring her a step closer to reaching her ultimate goal to become a neonatal nurse.
