At INTO City, University of London, international students can achieve their aspirations in the heart of multicultural London, which has been named the best student city in the world by QS Best Student Cities 2022 - a title which it has held every year since 2018. Students from more than 160 countries are represented at the university, which has a diverse and inclusive student community.

Students can progress into City, University of London by studying one of INTO's tailored pathway programmes:

  • International Foundation – students can work on their academic and English language skills while preparing to enter directly into the first year of undergraduate study.
  • Graduate Diploma – alongside improving their academic, research and English language skills, students can prepare to enter directly onto a postgraduate course.
  • English Language Courses – prepare students for further academic study.

The university was rated 3rd in London for student satisfaction (The Complete University Guide 2020). It's also home to the world-renowned Bayes Business School (formerly Cass), which was ranked 6th in the UK (Financial Times European Business School Ranking 2020).

Students have access to a friendly and extensive support system that can assist with any issues they may have. From helping set up bank accounts to visa support, staff help make the transition into UK student life an easy and enjoyable one.

Courses have key employability skills and experience embedded into the English module from day one, reflecting the university's strong employability agenda, and fantastic location in central London, nestled between the City's financial and technology districts. Students will also set up a LinkedIn profile and maintain it throughout their time at INTO City.

Average tuition fees for undergraduate and postgraduate INTO students for three-term pathways in 2021–22 is GBP 16,750 - GBP 19,565. Accommodation costs for three-term pathways in 2021–22 range from GBP 8,262 - 12,012.

What's new

City, University of London is ranked 13th in the UK for sustainability and environmental protection, (latest People & Planet's University League Table 2021), and is placed 4th in London.

The league table looks at the impact universities have on the environment and ranks those which make the best sustainable efforts. This year, City achieved a score of 71.9 per cent, which is equivalent to a first-class award.

This is a reflection of the hard work that the university puts into being an environmentally-friendly institution, which is a great challenge in a large, polluted city like London.

The university also empowers students to fight climate change and is committed to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. As well as big changes such as introducing solar panels and other energy-saving technology, City has created smaller, more collaborative initiatives such as campus vegetable and edible flower gardens which the community can get involved with.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

To be eligible for study at INTO City, University of London, students need to meet a small number of entry requirements.

International Foundation

  • Academic requirements – students will need to have completed 12 years of school (or equivalent) and have finished with good grades.
  • English language requirements – depending on the course, students will need a minimum IELTS score of 4.5–6.0, or equivalent.

Graduate Diploma

  • Academic requirements – students will need to have completed at least three years in higher education and have good grades.
  • English language requirements – depending on the course, students will need a minimum IELTS score of 5.5, or equivalent.

English Language Courses

  • Academic requirements – depending on the course, students will usually need an offer of a place to study at INTO City, University of London. They offer extended programmes which incorporate a term of academic English into the pathway. Those who cannot meet the English language requirements may be eligible for the academic English course.
  • English language requirements – depending on the start date and course length, students will need a minimum IELTS score of 3.0 - 6.0, or equivalent.

INTO City, University of London Study Centre

Packed full with highly qualified teachers, excellent resources and top study environments, the INTO Study Centre is the perfect hub for international students. It's also just 15 minutes by bus to the main university buildings, so students are close to libraries and other facilities.

Learning Resource Centre

Part of the INTO Study Centre, the Learning Resource Centre is a dedicated space for students to work. There are many useful academic materials to accompany studies, from textbooks to scanners.

A friendly space to relax between classes and studying, the INTO cafe serves a variety of food and drinks to fuel student brainpower.

University-wide facilities

Scholarships & funding

Scholarships & funding

To reward high achieving international students and help with their financial costs, the university has a number of scholarships in place.

International Foundation Scholarship

INTO students who will be studying an International Foundation pathway may be eligible for a scholarship of GBP 4,000.

International Graduate Diploma Scholarship

Those who will be pursuing a Graduate Diploma pathway may be eligible for a scholarship of GBP 4,000.

For students continuing to a degree at City, there are also progression scholarships to reward their performance.

City, University of London Progression Scholarship

High-achieving students who successfully complete the INTO City International Foundation Programme may be eligible for a scholarship on progression to City, University of London.
