Overview
The San Mateo Colleges of Silicon Valley (SMCSV), operated by the San Mateo County Community College District, are a group of three highly regarded and fully accredited two-year community colleges in California's Silicon Valley and Bay Area.
The collective includes Cañada College, College of San Mateo, and Skyline College. They offer a wide range of specialized educational pathways across a wide range of degree subjects, which are equivalent to studying the first two years of a bachelor's degree program. Completion of a SMCSV associate degree guarantees admission to one of 136 top ranked universities within the College University Partnership (CUP), which incorporates more than 150 renowned universities throughout the US and worldwide.
SMCSV gives students the opportunity to live and study in some of the best locations in California. Students gain access to internships in local technology, innovation industries and commercial sectors, as well as networking opportunities to increase experience and employability.
With particular strength in STEM subjects, taught by experienced industry-leading professionals, students at SMCSV enjoy greatly enhanced admission success among the top colleges in the San Francisco Bay Area. SMCSV are the preferred transfer pathway colleges for UC Berkeley, and honors students enjoy priority admission status with an acceptance rate of up to 70 percent from UCLA.
International students benefit from the colleges' own Silicon Valley Intensive English Program (SVIEP), which ensures that students graduate with a high level of English proficiency, required to succeed at the most competitive undergraduate courses.
The SMCSV Global Online Learning (GOL) program enables students to study remotely from anywhere in the world, earning credits accepted by over 150 CUP universities. GOL students are able to structure their studies flexibly, with available international scholarships and greatly reduced tuition fees.
