University of California - Berkeley
The University of California was founded in 1868. UC Berkeley is the world’s premier public university born out of a vision in the State Constitution of a university that would contribute even more than California's gold to the glory and happiness of advancing generations. Students can excel beyond, exchange ideas and, ultimately, change the world. It offers an exceptional learning environment that fulfills the academic ambitions, intellectual passions and desire to experience cultural diversity at its richest. The university attracts the best and brightest applicants, generating an ethnically and culturally diverse student population and providing one of the finest undergraduate learning experiences available.
Berkeley campus is divided into 14 colleges and schools, most of which are subdivided into departments. Berkeley's academic programs are recognized internationally for the excellence. More than 350 degree programs are available in the sciences, humanities, arts, social sciences and natural resources. Students also may design their own undergraduate majors. Nearly 100 freshman and sophomore seminars are offered each semester, featuring small classes on topics of special interest to the professors. Students connect with a tradition of excellence at Berkeley.
