Today, it is driving innovation and change to advance society, propel economic growth and make it a better place. As one of the world's leading public research universities, UC San Diego attracts bold thinkers and creative achievers.
The university’s rich academic portfolio includes six undergraduate colleges, five academic divisions and five graduate and professional schools. It’s academic programs are taught by field experts, emphasize critical thinking, real-world problem-solving and opportunities for leadership. As a UC San Diego undergraduate, students will be assigned to one of the universities six Colleges–learning tracks and residential spaces that have their own traditions and general education requirements. It does things a little differently than other universities, so students will be free to pursue their chosen major no matter which College they attend. This approach gives students the unique opportunity to live and study alongside people with diverse interests, backgrounds and educational paths.
UC San Diego’s main campus is located near the Pacific Ocean on approximately 1,200 acres of coastal woodland in La Jolla, California. It sits on the ancestral homelands of the Kumeyaay Nation. Kumeyaay people continue to have an important and thriving presence in the region.
