The University of Gloucestershire is spread across three campuses, with two in Cheltenham and one in Gloucester. With direct rail links to Birmingham (40 minutes), Bristol (40 minutes) and London (two hours), as well as excellent road access to the rest of the country, Cheltenham and Gloucester are located in some of the country’s most beautiful landscapes. The Cotswold Hills rise behind Cheltenham, while beyond Gloucester the River Severn and Forest of Dean offer plenty of activities.
The university takes pride in its relationship with its students, and was listed as a top 10 UK university for student support in the Whatuni Student Choice Awards 2017. Services on offer include a confidential counselling team, help with academic writing and financial support.
Students can take advantage of the university's Your Future Plan initiative, which offers guaranteed support with creating a personal career plan. This scheme helps students with everything from looking for a part-time job to getting their foot in the door with a placement or internship. The university has also developed the Gloucestershire Employability Awards, allowing for students to identify their skills, write a stand-out CV and be interview-ready.
There are close to 50 clubs and societies at the university, allowing students to gain new experiences outside of the classroom, meet new friends and pursue their interests and talents. With everything from creative writing to a student-run radio station, there is no shortage of ways to engage in the university lifestyle. An additional 35 sports clubs are also on offer, ranging from football to hockey.
Each campus has its own Students' Union bar, where events take place each week. Subject-specific facilities across the sites include film and TV studios, a £2million performing arts centre, a state-of-the-art sports centre – complete with 3G pitches – and 24-hour libraries.
