Most Diverse College

Data analytics company College Factual has named University of New Orleans as the most diverse college in Louisiana for the second year in a row.

“The ethnic diversity of our student body serves to enrich the educational experiences of all of our students,” said UNO President John Nicklow. “A wide variety of experiences and viewpoints helps foster more understanding and an expanded world view. Our differences are among our institution’s greatest attributes, and they are worth celebrating,” Nicklow added.

Best graduate school

The U.S. News & World Report has recently ranked UNO amongst the top graduate schools in the U.S. for public affairs and biological sciences. This represents a jump of 12 places from the 2018 rankings, with the Master of Public Administration (MPA) program being one of the two ranked courses in the entire state.

Created to bring down entry barriers into specific industries, it teaches practical programs and provides paid apprenticeships. A flexible learning experience, students are also given learning materials, activities, access to discussion forums and weekly online modules.

Chemistry department upgrades

The university's chemistry department has added another tool to its state-of-the-art facilities with a new Mass Spectrometer. Providing researchers with the ability to analyze and trace samples accurately, it's the only one in South-eastern America.

New master's degree

UNO is offering a new master's degree in cybersecurity and operations. Scholarships & funding

For the sixth straight year, the University of New Orleans ranks among the universities whose students graduate with the least amount of debt due to its affordable tuition. UNO assists those with financial need by awarding them grants and scholarships for their academic achievements and other work.

Most scholarships are awarded based on academic credentials and student accomplishments. Additional scholarships may be offered that involve a Skype interview, and qualified admitted students will be notified accordingly.

International students are considered for all first-time, full-time undergraduate scholarships.

The Earl K. Long Library, situated in the heart of the campus, provides a wide array of resources and services to support the learning and research needs of the campus community.

Fitness facilities

The UNO Recreation and Fitness Centre has 8,000 square metres of space dedicated to a variety of fitness and recreational activities conveniently located on the campus of the University of New Orleans. UNO consistently ranks amongst the most generous universities in the USA in terms of its financial assistance to students. Its affordable tuition fee rates mean students graduate with minimal amounts of debt, and and those who need financial assistance can take advantage of scholarships and awards.

Most scholarships are based on academic achievement, but other work and student accomplishments can be recognized. Some additional scholarships involve a Skype interview with qualified students notified of their eligibility.

International students are eligible and considered for all full-time undergraduate scholarships. There are also a number of postgraduate scholarships on offer, with awards varying on an individual basis.

Graduate applicants applying by March 15th each year for the Fall semester will be automatically considered for scholarships and graduate assistantships. Awards are based on academic credentials, with highly-qualified, full-time students benefitting from them.

Festivals

Each year, students participate in campus traditions like Sucauf, a large celebration with live music and a Louisiana crawfish boil. UNO also celebrates Holi, one of the campus’s most popular activities. In addition to live concerts, outdoor movies, and other campus activities, students can participate in the rich culture in New Orleans. Mardi Gras, the largest celebration on earth, happens every spring. Jazz Fest, French Quarter Fest, and many other celebrations create a unique student life in New Orleans.

The Cove has multiple dining areas offering a range of cuisines, as well as its iconic Sandbar area which hosts live music.
