Wayne State University
Wayne State University’s story begins in 1868 with the founding of the Detroit Medical College, now the School of Medicine. Since 1915, it has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, one of six regional accrediting agencies in the United States that provides accreditation to colleges and universities at the institutional level. The mission of the university is to be a pre-eminent, public, urban research university known for academic and research excellence, success across a diverse student body, and meaningful engagement in its urban community.
