Overview
Located in the vibrant Canadian city of Winnipeg, the International College of Manitoba (ICM) is a pathway college with a choice of programs aimed at providing students with a ‘soft landing' to living and studying in Canada. Its programs and support system are designed to help students as they make the transition to living in Canada.
Upon successful completion of the UTP Stage II program, students can progress to the second year of one of the many undergraduate degree courses at the University of Manitoba (U of M).
ICM is located on the U of M Fort Garry campus, about ten kilometers from downtown Winnipeg in the heartland of Canada. Known as the ''Gateway to the West'', Winnipeg plays a prominent role in the transportation, manufacturing, agriculture and finance which supports the North American continent, and its location makes it an ideal spot for discovering all that Canada has to offer.
Winnipeg is a modern cosmopolitan city with many exciting activities for students. There are shops, restaurants and a lively arts and theater scene, as well as renowned festivals of various kinds including culture, food and sport. There are wonderful lakes and vast open landscapes nearby and many outdoor activities to pursue throughout the year, from hiking and mountain biking to skiing and other snow sports. Winnipeg's skies are among the clearest in North America, and the city has some of the cleanest water in Canada.
Diversity is a celebrated part of Canadian society, and international students make up almost 20 percent of the university's student population, representing over 100 countries. Because ICM is located on the U of M campus, its students benefit from shared use of all the U of M facilities for the duration of their studies. ICM students are even able to join university clubs and societies, giving them opportunities to socialize beyond the walls of the classroom, and to ease the transition between secondary school and undergraduate study.
