Course updates

QUT has launched a new course, Master of Nursing – Entry to Practice, designed for students who want to pursue their passion for health and patient care. Students will complete more than 800 hours of clinical placement, leading to registration as a practising nurse in Australia after graduation.

QUT's Bachelor of Data Science, launched in 2021, has been specifically designed and built from the ground up as a specialist data science program – the only one of its kind in Queensland. As an acknowledged leader in data science research and through the Centre of Data Science, QUT will provide students with the expertise and real-world experiences needed to solve complex challenges and problems in an exciting new discipline.

Award-winning research

QUT provides transformative research intensity and excellence relevant to communities and the real world. QUT's collaborative approach to research is transdisciplinary, transformative and works in consultation with a range of diverse real-world partnerships.

QUT recently received AUD 1.2 million in new ARC funding with a green light to build Australia's largest covered outdoor facility for testing equipment, robotics and materials, processing techniques in realistic Moon, Mars and asteroid conditions.

Both professionals and industry representatives contribute to the university's course development, combining theoretical education with a practical perspective.

It's an institution featuring more than 119 winners of Australian Awards for University Teaching (AAUT).

While studying at the university, students' study with access to the latest technology and learning spaces, learn from the best lecturers, and get lots of hands-on experience with industry to prepare them for the real world. Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Academic entry requirements

Students should check the course information to determine the academic requirements they need to meet. This includes any additional requirements like interviews, auditions, or portfolios.

English proficiency requirements

Students must meet the English language requirements for their chosen course. QUT accepts results from several standardised tests. Students must check individual program pages to view details. Students must take a proficiency test within two years of commencing their course.

The university accepts test results from:

  • Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)
  • Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)
  • IELTS (Academic)
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE Academic)
  • TOEFL iBT (internet-based)

If students do not meet the required English language test scores or adequate academic requirements for their preferred courses, the university may offer them a course package, which incorporates their degree with an English language or pathway program.

Scholarships & funding

Scholarships & funding

QUT offers the following academic scholarships to international students:

International merit scholarships

High-achieving international students may be eligible for a merit scholarship, provided they meet the required academic conditions.

Recipients may receive:

  • A scholarship covering 25 per cent of tuition fees for the first year (two semesters) of study at QUT
  • An ongoing scholarship covering 25 per cent of tuition fees per semester (ongoing academic requirements apply).

These scholarships cover a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in business, creative industries, education, health, science and engineering. There is no ongoing scholarship for health-related studies. Students do not need to apply separately and will be considered for the scholarship when applying to QUT.
