Of course, you can travel home during semester break, no matter the break is three weeks or three months, you can always travel home, however, and the current situations since the Australian border is closed, it may not be a good idea to travel home during this time. So the best options would be staying in Australia, maybe finding a part time job instead of going home.

You can travel back home when you are on your semester break and it is recommended when you are in Australia, because when you load your student visa extension, Australian immigration do monitor your previous travel history to determine your strong home ties. So please do visit your home and your family members during your semester breaks.
