Hi, everyone, it's Lisa from Shoreline. How long does it take to get admitted to a university? The answer is it depends. At schools like mine, which are community colleges, students often find out if they've been admitted between two days and a week after they apply. Some schools, it takes months and they have a very formal process. So if you want a fast decision, look for schools who advertise rolling admission. And if you're applying to schools that have strict deadlines, it will take longer.

But depending on the program your you're applying for, it may require things like portfolios or things like that. Here at Western New England University, it takes us approximately two weeks to read and evaluate a student's application for undergraduate admission. However, with graduate-level students, it does take a little bit longer because we are looking at additional references as well as faculty recommendations. The fastest way for you to get an admissions decision is to make sure that all of your documents are in order and reach out to your admissions officer as quickly as possible to make sure that, that is all set.
