Study in Sydney
Get to know Sydney
It’s easy to see why Sydney is Australia's most famous city. Set on the iconic Sydney Harbour and surrounded by some of the best beaches in the country, Sydney is a feast for the eyes, bustling with activity, and packed with great places to see and fantastic food and drink. In history, Sydney was the site of the first British colony in Australia. As Australia’s most populous city, Sydney also has a vibrant cultural life, with many restaurants and bars serving cuisine that reflects Sydney's multicultural community. There are a great number of cinemas, live music venues and local theatres that attract both international and local and headline acts.
Central Business District
Sydney is Australia’s first city, both historically as the landing spot of the First Fleet (in 1788) and as the first incorporated City Council (in 1842). You’ll feel a sense of that history exploring the streets and lanes within the CBD, with the iconic Opera House and Harbour Bridge standing proudly over the waterfront.
Ultimo & Haymarket
The Ultimo and Haymarket areas stretch from Central Station all the way up towards the city centre. There are a number of institutions in or nearby these areas, creating an exciting student-friendly vibe.
The Inner East area is brimming with interesting things to see and do. It doesn’t matter whether you’re after a good bookshop, a modern gallery, a fresh coffee, a cheap meal, a fancy restaurant, a small bar or a busy pub, you’ll find just what you’re looking for here.
The Inner West area is the description Sydneysiders call the area between the CBD and the start of the suburban sprawl. It has some of the buzz and bustle of the city alongside lots of local charm. The Inner West is home to a thriving mix of students, creatives, professionals and families.
