Shops and Restaurants
From late-night shopping to lunchtime waterparks
You have so many options when shopping and eating out in Canada, but opening hours will be different depending on where you live (or visit). Some provinces and territories have shops that are open 24-hours a day, seven days a week, so you’ll never be caught short! In general, supermarkets are open from 7:00am till 11:00pm.
Shopaholics will love spending time in Alberta’s West Edmonton Mall – with 800 stores to choose from plus several amusement parks, an ice palace, a miniature golf course and a waterpark! Toronto’s Eaton Shopping Centre has a large number of shops and restaurants in this towering, historic mall.
Little-known outside of Canada, the fine-dining scene in Toronto offers a diverse range of restaurant options and creative menus. Your tastebuds will be satisfied at Cuban diners, Korean tapas bars, Indian restaurants, busy pizzerias, and bustling barbecue joints.
You don’t need to tip in Canada, but generally most people do give a tip for service, especially in a sit-down restaurant with table service. On average tips are usually 15 to 20 per cent of the bill.
