Transport tips in US

Getting from A to B with ease

You’ll soon realise that there are so many things to see and do in the U.S.. If you would like to explore your local town, city or even other parts of the country, you’ll discover there are so many travel options. Depending on where you’d like to go and where you’re coming from, the transport options can include planes, buses, trains and subways, taxis, cars, bikes and of course, just walking there.

There are many airports across the country making it easy to fly to various destinations.

There is an extensive bus system in the U.S. and many providers offer smartphone apps so you can check when the next bus is coming.

Subways can be found in most major cities and are an inexpensive way to get you from A to B. When you first arrive in the U.S., It would be a good idea to familiarise yourself with your local subway system. Travelling by train is a great option when travelling throughout the U.S., however they can be a little bit more expensive.

To get across town, cycling is a great option. You will need to be familiar with the rules of the road and you’ll need to wear a helmet at all times. If you are on your bike at night, your bike will need lights; a front white light and rear red light.

You should remember that in the U.S. people drive on the right-hand side of the road. If you drive a car, you must understand the rules of the road and you must have a valid driver’s licence. Some states in the U.S. also require an International Driving Permit so you need to check with the motor vehicle department of the states you are planning to  drive in and make sure you apply ahead of time.
