University of East Anglia
is one of the UK’s top universities, based in the beautiful city of Norwich, just two hours from London.
The university is ranked in the top 20 in all the country’s major league tables and in the top 10 for the quality of our research (REF 2014). It is situated at the heart of Norwich Research Park, which is home to several world-leading research institutes and ranks highly for research citations in many academic fields.
The university is also widely recognised as one of the best UK universities for student satisfaction, regularly appearing in the top five in national surveys (NSS), and Norwich is a thriving, historic city with superb culture, shopping, nightlife and surrounding countryside.
The unique and attractive aspect of Pharmacy course is the integrated pre-registration placement that constitutes most of your fourth and fifth years of study.
The university has integrated the pre-registration placement into the five-year degree so you become fully registered at the same time as you graduate.
The placements aren’t guaranteed, but we’ve developed links with many local hospitals and commercial pharmacies – including Cambridge University Hospitals trust and Guys & St. Thomas – so we can help our graduates as much as possible. You’ll be interviewed by potential employers when securing your placements, so we also provide full support in interview techniques and presentation skills. To succeed, you’ll need to demonstrate the values of the National Health Service, have competency in the English language and complete practical tasks.
University of Bradford
Choose Bradford for your pharmacy degree - Not only have we been teaching the MPharm with integrated pre-registration placements for over 45 years, but the course is designed and developed by nationally acclaimed pharmacy educational experts in conjunction with pharmacy employers, patients and alumni. We also use innovative teaching methods such as team based learning, which enables you to work on real life cases to develop your confidence, problem solving skills and team skills that you need.
Pre-registration training – sorted
On the road to becoming a registered pharmacist you need to complete a pre-registration year. This can be difficult if you have to organise it yourself following a 4 year degree. At Bradford we do it all for you.
Once you’ve graduated from our five year MPharm, you can practice straight away, subject to passing the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) registration exam.
The pre-registration training looks like this:
• Two separate six month periods – this may be one in a hospital and one in a community pharmacy
• Each six month period is arranged and supervised by the School of Pharmacy – taking the stress away so you can get the best out of your placement
• You’ll meet a cross section of professionals and employers broadening both your experience and your employment contacts for when you graduate.
University of Nottingham
leads the UK in the training of future Pharmacists and is recognised as a world leader for research in the design and use of drugs and medicines.
The School came joint 1st in the UK on quality of research for Pharmacy Schools in the 2014 Research Excellence Framework and is the only School of Pharmacy to have 100% of research at 4* in the 'Impact on Society’ category.
The university is ranked 8th in the world in the QS World Rankings for pharmacy and pharmacology.
