York’s Centre for English Language Teaching (CELT) provides pre-sessional courses to help students reach the language standards of their course or to increase English proficiency. CELT also offers free English language courses covering a range of useful skills such as academic writing and speaking skills for the University’s international students.
The one-year York International Foundation Programme is taught at the University’s associate college, York College. It helps international students to acquire the qualifications and skills for entry to a UK university undergraduate degree in Science, Social Science, and Business and Management.
A top international tourist destination, the historic city of York is frequently voted one of the best places to live in the UK. It has a buzzing social scene, a vibrant nightlife and brilliant shopping with easy access to the stunning landscapes in the countryside around it.

For 2014/15 the indicative living costs for students living in University accommodation range between £7,500 and £10,300. This is dependent on number of weeks spent at the University and personal lifestyle.
