Founded in 1892, the University of Rhode Island (URI) is a public research university located in Southern Rhode Island, just minutes from the beach. URI was named #3 in Best Value College’s list of the “30 Most Beautiful Coastal College Campuses”.
The university is ranked #159 in the National Colleges rankings. The university began as an agricultural school and so has a very popular agricultural course. Their graduate engineering program was recently ranked #116 in the nation.
The University has 16,000 students and 66 countries of the world represented. URI also offers with 215 study abroad programs in 81 countries.
