Clark University

United States
Overview

Overview

Clark University was founded in 1887 as the first all-graduate school in the nation, and continues to pave the way in research and innovation. Today, Clark University promotes a rigorous liberal arts curriculum within the context of a research experience which addresses social and scientific challenges on a global scale.

The university's curriculum approach breaks down barriers and offers an opportunity to examine subject matter from many perspectives. More than 3,000 students are enrolled in bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degree programs in a wide range of academic disciplines. As a private non-profit research institution, Clark prides itself on being a small university with a large impact, built for future generations.

The university is located in Worcester, Massachusetts, New England's second largest city. Known as ‘the Heart of New England', the 50-acre campus is lined with trees and grand architecture. The city offers great entertainment, social activities and career opportunities. It takes only one hour to travel to Boston, and New York City can be reached in under four hours by car.

Clark University is a distinctly collaborative and inclusive environment, and the university's teaching staff are recognized as experts in their fields. Small class sizes allow students to connect one-on-one with accomplished practitioners. Graduates are also inspired to challenge convention and make lasting positive change in their careers beyond education.

Clark University is an AACSB internationally accredited business school, and has been awarded a 2021 Best Business School award by the U.S. News &World Report. The university continues to be well represented in a number of university rankings:

  • 103rd – Best National Universities, U.S. News & World Report
  • 27th – Best Value Schools, U.S. News & World Report
  • 7th – World's Best Small Universities, Times Higher Education
  • 18th – Happiest Students, The Princeton Review

Clark University has a strong plan in place to ensure the safest and most productive campus experience. Many preventative measures are in place, as well as advanced testing, protective equipment, and social distancing guidelines.

The university community has seen a low number of COVID-19 cases. Cases and tests on campus or in Worcester are tracked daily on the Healthy Clark Dashboard.

Clark is also running #ClarkTogether. This is a digital space for the university community to share stories, videos, advice, and more, and to maintain the active Clark community spirit.

New peer mentor program

The American Language and Culture Institute (ALCI) has put together a volunteer mentorship program. It matches new international students with returning overseas students, who are able to share their wisdom and experience. The program helps new learners make connections, ask questions, and feel comfortable at the university.

Mentors know exactly what it's like to be a new international student at Clark. Through personal experience, they give new international students advice, support, and friendship. Many mentees learn remotely at home overseas, and mentors are good at checking in with them online.
