Syracuse University is a private research university located in Syracuse, New York. The University was incorporated on March 24, 1870 and grew rapidly, establishing programs in architecture and fine arts that were among the nation’s earliest. By 1934, the University’s academic divisions had grown to comprise 13 schools and colleges which persist to the present day.
Deeply focused on students, Syracuse University is a premier institution of research and higher learning. Students can choose from more than 200 majors, 100 minors, and 200 advanced degree programs across Syracuse’s 13 academic units. Students can customize their own academic experience by blending the foundational power of the liberal arts with the intense focus of professional programs.
Research at Syracuse seeks to address pressing global needs, and strives to involve students at every opportunity. The University is home to over 30 research centers that span disciplines, including the Syracuse Biomaterials Institute, Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs, the Tully Center for Free Speech, and George E. Bennett Center for Accounting and Tax Research.
Whatever student’s interests, passions, or hobbies be, they will find more than just a few like minds at Syracuse. With over 300 student organization and nearly 22,000 students from all over the world taking part in clubs, athletics and gatherings of all kinds. Beside this, there are 48 sports clubs, 10 indoor facilities, 11 areas of programming and 98 fitness classes.
The university’s gorgeous campus sits on top of a hill overlooking the city of Syracuse, in central New York state. Additional centers are located in New York City, Washington D.C., and Los Angeles, and study abroad programs are available in 60 countries throughout the world, enabling students to gain a global perspective as they pursue their studies.
