The High School at Vancouver Island University
Established in 1996, The High School at Vancouver Island University is a BC certified, independent school offering Grades 10, 11 and 12 to students from the greater Nanaimo area and from around the world. Small class sizes, individual attention and opportunities for intercultural understanding are only a few of the hallmarks of this school. Qualified graduates from the High School at VIU are allowed direct admission to Vancouver Island University in order to continue the journey to post-secondary studies and beyond.
The school offers a variety of club options to its students, which includes Yearbook, Cooking, Hiking, Music and Theatre Clubs. At The High School at VIU students from Canada and countries all over the world converge to learn, to imagine, to think and to act. The VIU is exceptional in that regard as it offers not only academic programs towards Bachelor and Masters degrees, Certificates and Diplomas, but also provides world renowned trades and vocational programs in Culinary Arts, Hospitality, Health, Industrial Arts and many more.
Situated on the campus of Vancouver Island University, students are exposed to university life from the time they start here in grade 10. They have access to university facilities, such as cafeteria, gymnasium, library, bookstore, computer labs and health clinic.
