Overview
The University of Reading is rich in history. Established in 1892, it then received its Royal Charter in 1926 - giving it the power to award degrees. Throughout the years, the University has established itself as a place with great links to businesses and a reputation for research and quality of teaching.
It was recently ranked in the top 200 universities worldwide (QS World University Rankings 2018).
International students are within close proximity to London and will be among a community of more than 5,000 overseas students from over 140 countries. The University of Reading makes the effort to ensure all students are integrated well with a number of societies available for students of different faiths on campus, as well as societies that reflects different interests.
Students can choose from more than 350 undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and 98% of the research conducted at the institution has been internationally recognised (REF 2014).
In order to help with fees and funding, the University of Reading offers Chevening Scholarships. These are awarded to outstanding students who have been identified as potential future leaders across a number of fields. The scholarship programme - which is funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office - has over 44,000 alumni around the world.
The University of Reading has invested over £500 million to create cutting-edge facilities for its students and staff. For example, Reading has a huge library that is usually open 24 hours a day and gives students access to over 1 million books.
It has also invested in a state-of-the-art campus in Malaysia, giving students the chance to study part of their course abroad. This not only widens the reach of the university, but also makes UK study experience more flexible and accessible.
