Overview

The University of York is a world-leading Russell Group university with a global reputation for inspirational and life-changing research. Overview

The University of York is an internationally acclaimed institution, located in Yorkshire, England. It is part of the prestigious Russell Group of 24 leading UK universities, which uphold rigorous academic standards among its members, promoting world-class research and the highest levels of teaching.

The University offers a comprehensive portfolio of degree courses, spanning three academic faculties the Faculty of Arts and Humanities the Faculty of Sciences the Faculty of Social Sciences. 1,400 brand new student bedrooms are being developed on campus, including the creation of central hub community spaces when two new colleges are formed. There are also continued upgrades to a number of existing colleges, including updating kitchens, bathrooms and shared spaces.

York Management School

As the Management School expands, it is being moved to a larger facility which will provide an exciting space for staff and students to work collaboratively in research, teaching and engagement with other academic and non-academic partners.

York Institute for Safe Autonomy building

There are several different scholarships available specifically to international students:

At undergraduate and postgraduate level, the university offers over 100 awards. For those international students starting university in the 2020/2021 academic year, the following scholarships are on offer:

Academic Excellence Scholarships

Offered to over 100 international students, these prestigious scholarships offer a tuition fee discount to recognise academic excellence. With funding ranging from GBP 2,500 to GBP 10,000, undergraduate and postgraduate taught students starting their studies in 2020 may be eligible for this award. Details on eligibility criteria can be found on the university’s website.

Vice- Chancellor’s Scholarships

Ten prestigious scholarships are available for the highest achieving undergraduate and postgraduate taught students. These scholarships are worth GBP 5000 per year for up to three years.

Albukhary Scholarships

The university offers five Sharifah Sofia Albukhary scholarships to undergraduate students in need of financial support to further their education. This scholarship is open to country specific applicants, and grants students awards ranging from GBP 31,250 (plus a full tuition fee waiver) to GBP 75,000.

Departmental Scholarships

The university also offers departmental scholarships which can be combined with the academic excellence awards. Information on availability can be found on the individual department pages.

Overseas Research Scholarships

International students interested in studying for a PhD, can consider applying for the Overseas Research Scholarship provided by York Graduate Research School. This competitive scholarship provides a regular financial sum of money in line with UKRI rate, as well as a research training support grant covering 100 percent of the student’s tuition fees for the duration of enrolment.
