Virginia Tech has been ranked 44th in university research in the United States. Located in Blacksburg, Virginia, the institution offers over 100 undergraduate degree programmes on a sprawling campus. With over 200 buildings across 2,600 acres of land, there is even an airport on site – making it easy for students from around the world to study there.
Students at the University have access to a wide range of resources through the Career and Professional Development Department, which includes information on careers fairs, on-campus interview programmes and help with writing a stand-out CV. There is also information available on finding an internship or part-time job, ideal for gaining extra experience and contacts for after graduating.
The University runs a number of clubs and societies for students to get involved in outside of the classroom, ideal for exploring new interests and making new friends. These include the YouTube and Social Media Club, a student-run newspaper and a Craft and Coffee Club. There are also many sports clubs and fitness classes available to join and stay active.
The campus has modern facilities including art galleries, a theatre, an on-site hotel, a horticulture garden, a farm, and a sports centre featuring two fitness studios, a 25-yard swimming pool, jogging tracks and sports courts. There are also a number of student centres featuring facilities such as ATM machines, food outlets, gender neutral bathrooms and a space for meditation.
Students are provided with a strong support network at the University, with dedicated help available for those with a disability, advice on finances, help with finding accommodation and general advice offered at the Welcome Centre – located at Squires Student Centre.
