Visa application assistanceNeed to apply for a visa? We’ve got you covered.
Your student visa is an endorsement from the immigration authorities in your passport. The visa indicates that you are permitted to enter the country and allowed to remain in order to study for a specified period of time.
You can usually start your application for a student visa when you receive confirmation of your enrolment in your chosen school, college or university. You are best advised to apply as early as possible, regardless of your studies start date, as the time taken to process applications can vary dramatically.
There are a number of stages to your application for a student visa. The order of these stages and how you should complete them may vary depending on where you are planning to study. IDP will direct you to the appropriate official websites to ensure you have the latest applications forms. Your IDP team can also put you in contact with authorised immigration representatives.
The processes and requirements international students, like you, must meet in order to be eligible for a student visa may well differ from country-to-country.
Most students will be required to show evidence of:
Proof of your enrolment in a recognised educational institution
Proof of your capacity to cover the cost of any air fares, your course tuition fees as well as your living costs (plus your family members) for the period of your stay.
A valid passport with at least six months remaining on beyond your period of stay.
In addition, you may also be expected to show evidence of your English language proficiency as well as undertaking health examinations and/or police checks.
Your IDP counsellor will provide you with information about the necessary documents you may need to provide
All required documents should be scanned and certified with certified translations sometimes requested. Your IDP counsellor will help with any translation services.
