You asked for more choices – and we’ve listened. Introducing computer-delivered IELTS for the first time in India: the same IELTS test you know, delivered via computer, for the first time in India. With this format, you can avail your results within 5-7 days and choose from multiple test sessions – available up to 7 times a week and 3 times a day.

When you take computer-delivered IELTS, your test result will be available within 5-7 days. The Writing and Speaking components will continue to be marked by IELTS examiners to ensure the highest level of accuracy and fairness.

Computer-delivered testing allows us to increase the number of test dates (with paper-based and computer-delivered) each week, offering you more flexibility with test dates and times. You can choose your own dates and time slots.



How is it different from paper-based IELTS?

When you opt for computer-delivered IELTS, you take the Listening, Reading and Writing components using a desktop computer. All other aspects remain the same as paper-based IELTS test, including:

  • Content
  • Question types
  • Timings
  • Marking

The timings when you take IELTS on computer are slightly different from the paper-based test.

  • Before attempting any part of the Listening test, you’ll have some time to read the questions
  • Before finishing the Listening test, you’ll be given two minutes to review your answers
  • Duration of the Listening test is approx. 30 – 36 minutes

Where can I take IELTS on computer? 

Currently, you can take IELTS on computer in 12 cities - New Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chandigarh, Chennai, Pune, Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Jalandhar, Bathinda, and Ludhiana and choose from the multiple test sessions (subject to availability) in each city. What happens to the Speaking test?

The IELTS Speaking test remains the same as always – face-to-face, in a quiet room, with a real, human examiner. We believe a face-to-face Speaking test is the most effective way of assessing your speaking skills and prompts a more lifelike performance.

Let’s get familiar with the test format! 

Before you attempt IELTS on computer, it is better to get familiarised with the test format. So, we have some key videos for you to score better in the test. With these familiarisation videos you will learn how to attempt the different sections of the test, look for instructions, browse among questions, review and submit your answers as well as change the screen settings, if you need to.
