Founded in 1847, The City College of New York is an old institution with new ideas. It provides exceptional student outcomes and supports innovation and research excellence. Students can choose from a range of undergraduate and graduate degrees within the innovative schools and departments at CCNY, including the Spitzer School of Architecture, the Grove School of Engineering, the Colin Powell School for Civic and Global Leadership. It also has one of the largest undergraduate research programs in the New York area with more than 20 State-of-the-art research centers and institutes for both graduate and undergraduate research. Every year more than 15,000 students from around the world, who speak 100 languages and represent 150 nationalities, choose to study at CCNY. Its internationally recognized faculty includes Fulbright scholars, Guggenheim fellows, Pulitzer Prize and Emmy Award winners. The university offers more than 180 student clubs and organizations and has its own baseball team, known as Beavers.
It is the oldest of CUNY’s 24 institutions and considered to be its flagship university. The City University of New York (CUNY) System is the third largest university system in the United States, serving more than 480,000 students at 24 colleges and institutions. CCNY is located in Harlem, a vibrant and multicultural neighbourhood on Manhattan Island.
