University of Oklahoma
Founded in 1890, the University of Oklahoma is a public research university. It’s mission is to provide the best possible educational experience for the students through excellence in teaching, research and creative activity, and service to the state and society. The university is the largest research institution in the state of Oklahoma, and with more than 575 endowed faculty members who are committed to providing students with a real world, hands-on learning experience.
At the University of Oklahoma, 18 colleges make up the 170 academic programs offered. University College focuses on the success of first year students through academic advising and support. All incoming freshman are advised through College, regardless of their academic program, to ensure students are transitioning into college well. The Honors College provides intellectually challenging course work throughout a wide array of academic programs for students to graduate cum laude, magna cum laude, or summa cum laude. The university is home to the National Weather Centre and world-renowned research.
The University of Oklahoma has three campuses in Oklahoma as well as centres in Arezzo, Italy, Puebla, Mexico, and Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The main campus is very walkable and university takes a lot of pride in its beauty. It is part of a close-knit community in Norman, OK and only 20 minutes away from a growing Oklahoma City.
