Algoma University was established in 1965 as Algoma University College, an affiliate of Laurentian University. It has been educating the people of Northern Ontario for over 50 years. In 2008, the university was granted it’s charter, becoming an independent degree granting institution. The university is proud of providing the students with the best learning environment, which they like to call the Algoma Advantage, small class sizes, and one-on-one interactions with the dedicated faculty, endless support services, great research opportunities, and plenty of chances to get involved inside and outside of the classroom.
Algoma University offers over 30 different academic programs, spanning the liberal arts, sciences, and professional disciplines. All of the programs offer undergraduate research opportunities and hands-on learning. The faculty will work hard to make the students dreams a success, both inside and outside of the classroom. Algoma University is located in the heart of the Great Lakes in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. It embraces and fosters diversity and appreciates each person’s uniqueness and differences.
