University of Illinois at Chicago is a vital part of the educational, technological and cultural fabric of the region. It was formed in 1982. UIC is among the top five most diverse campuses in the nation. The east side of university campus is home to most undergraduate classes, student housing, the UIC Pavilion, recreation facilities and Student Center East. The west side of campus includes the health sciences colleges and medical center, recreation facilities and Student Center West.
