Overview

A hub for fostering creative and technical talent, Whitecliffe College is one of New Zealand’s most awarded private research institutions. It’s a combination of three specialist colleges with more than 130 overall years of expert teaching. Together, the colleges provide an outstanding education that helps students develop their skills and ideas into fruitful careers.

There are four departments each offering a variety of innovative degree programmes:

  • Art – students can explore their unique abilities, build their technical skills and create powerful, expressive artworks.
  • Design – thinkers and makers can enhance their creative design skills and create better experiences for society.
  • Fashion – those captivated by the fashion industry can hone their technical skills whilst bringing their clothing ideas to life.
  • Technology – inventive students are able to develop their information technology talents and learn how to build the next big digital platform and the best user experiences.

Teaching staff are highly experienced and passionate about preparing students for the professional world. Classes are enhanced by industry-standard resources and facilities. Alongside practical skills, students are shown how to critique, debate and gain the tools required to shape their communities.

The college has five campus locations across New Zealand, in Auckland City, Manukau, Wellington and Christchurch. In 2019, Auckland was named the third most liveable city worldwide (Mercer Quality of Living Survey). It’s one of the most diverse cities globally, as 40 per cent of the locals were born overseas.

What’s new

What’s new

Whitecliffe recently announced that its technology department has formal accreditation and approval from NZQA for the Bachelor of Applied Information Technology degree.

This new degree programme aims to prepare industry ready graduates who are specialists in their chosen field of either Network Engineering and Security, or Software and Web Development. The programme includes a final IT project of 60 credits that includes an industry placement.

This means that the school will now have a pathway through from Level 4 up to degree-level for the technology sector, with more options to come in the future.

Through this programme, Whitecliffe College helps students grow through their study experience in the school and graduate ready for the world of employment.

Whitecliffe has five campuses, situated in Auckland City, Manukau, Wellington and Christchurch. The College is based on a new flagship campus and studios at 67 Symonds Street. This upgraded campus has a new level of facilities provided for students with classrooms located across three adjoining buildings. Symonds Street is the student hub of Auckland, supporting different Universities and Colleges. There are numerous food and entertainment options close by and the public transport options are extensive. The Whitecliffe College campus in Christchurch provides Technology and ICT programmes. The campus is located at 167 Madras Street, only a few blocks from the innovation precinct zone.
