NZAID Scholarship student wins awards
O'Neil Nelson, a student of Master of Engineering at Auckland University of Technology, has been recognised with two awards for his educational excellence in New York and Jamaica. O'Neil won the first place in the Jamaica JTCE Educator of the Year Award and was bestowed the accolade in a ceremony last year. O'Neil hails from Jamaica and received a NZAID scholarship, which is administered by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade in New Zealand. He finished his thesis at the Auckland University of Technology&rsquos School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences.

In recent rankings announcements by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, AUT has moved into the top one per cent of universities worldwide for the fourth time consecutively.
Top university for international outlook in New Zealand
AUT ranks 1st in New Zealand and 27th globally for its International Outlook, according to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2020.
International outlook rankings are made based on the university&rsquos ability to attract international staff and students, and on how well they collaborate with overseas universities and engage with them.
Top millennial university in Australasia
Times Higher Education has ranked the university 51st among the world&rsquos top young universities, based on the quality of its research, teaching, international outlook, citations, and industry income.
AUT is also among the top millennial universities in the world (founded in the 21st century), being ranked 14th internationally and first in Australasia.
