Overview

Since the establishment of the institution in 1976, Canada College has supported students from around the world in their academic and professional journey. For over 40 years, more than 20,000 students from 160 countries worldwide have studied at the college creating a truly international community.

Canada College prides itself on the warm and welcoming environment it presents new students with. It is more than an academic centre for learning, it is a place to meet new people, build friendships, and experience different cultures and points of view. There are currently over 1,200 students enrolled at the college, studying across 12 different programs.

Ideally situated in the heart of Montreal, there is so much to see and do. Students can experience the hustle and bustle of city life by visiting the variety of museums, cinemas, shops and restaurants. For those that prefer to spend their time in the open-air, there are a number of beautiful outdoor spaces. Mt Royal Park, which is a short walk from the college, can be enjoyed all year round with the changing seasons, just be sure to pack warm clothes for the winter months.

Furthermore, Montreal is known for hosting some of the biggest and best festivals in the world, including Montreal International Fireworks Festival or the Just For Laughs Festival. The College can truly offer students the opportunity to experience the Canadian way of life.

Since most college-age students have now had their vaccine, Canada College is going back to in-person classes for Fall 2021. In light of the recent coronavirus pandemic, Canada College has taken a number of health and safety measures to prevent the spread of the virus to students, staff and visitors.

The Quebec Ministry of Healthcare has indicated that despite the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus in Quebec, the risk of contracting the virus in the community is still low and remains much lower than in other countries around the world.

Canada College advises any students planning to travel to first check the government's official website with all of the latest travel information and guidance. Students can find advice on the safest ways to travel and provide information about any travel restrictions in place.

Quality teaching

Canada College is well known for the excellent quality of teaching it offers. To ensure students receive the best possible education during their time at the institution, Canada College continues to develop partnerships with a variety of public and private sector organizations, as well as other respected educational institutions.

With 6 programs and 20 test centres across the college, students can expect intimate teaching environments with specialist lecturers. The college is a Designated Learning Institution by IRCC (DLI # O19338447695), which means it has been approved by the government to host international students.

The college has been accredited by a number of governing bodies including National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) and Human Resources Canada. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education (permit #693 550) in Quebec has recognized the college for its superior teaching and management.

For the English language programs at Canada College, teaching staff are members of the Canadian Association of Second Language Teachers. The institution is a member of Languages Canada and also an Official IELTS Test Centre, Official TOEFL iBT® test centre and Official TEFaQ and TEF test centre.

Department structure

Canada College offers a total of six specialised programs that are available for students to study. Each of these full-time programs is offered across both campuses in French and English:

College programs:

  • AEC – Database Administration
  • AEC – Business Administration and Commerce
  • AEC – Early Childhood Education Techniques
  • AEC – Business Intelligence Analyst
  • AEC – Digital Marketing
  • AEC – Digital Content Creation

All of the colleges AEC programs include an internship opportunity to offer students valuable experience of working environments in their field that will greatly enhance their resume on graduation. Successful graduates are eligible to apply for a PGWP (Post-graduation work permit) affording them the right to live and work in Canada that lasts for up to three years.

Free French classes are available to all students in the AEC programs.

Entry requirements and funding

Entry requirements and funding

Entry requirements for studying at Canada College vary depending on the specific program of choice. As a bilingual college, students must show some proficiency in English or French to pursue their studies. Proof of high school diploma or equivalent academic qualifications recognised by the Ministry of Immigration, Françisation and Integration is required.

Some programs require students to complete a short test if they have no previous experience in that specific field of study, for example computer science. Documents required for admission to Canada College include a CV, birth certificate, passport, proof of language proficiency and copies of a student's diploma and transcripts.

Student Authorization

For students looking to study a language course that is longer than six months, they will need to apply for student authorization at the closest Canadian Embassy/Consulate or online before travelling to Canada. To successfully apply for this visa, students will need to provide an acceptance letter from the College. Students will be required to give their biometrics to help the visa officer verify their identity and may also be asked to complete a medical examination if they intend to study for more than 24 weeks.

Scholarships and Funding

As with all international study experiences, students are required to cover the costs of tuition, housing and personal needs. All students attending Canada College must be able to prove they can support themselves financially whilst their student visa authorization is in the process of being issued. This may mean needing to provide financial information from a bank or guarantor, such as parents or guardians who will be providing the financial support.

Canada College's Student Services department works across the campuses to ensure students are supported in key areas. Activities are regularly held to enhance campus life and student engagement. A Health Line is also available for all students.

All staff are there to answer any questions students might have and to support them in their studies. The college's internship department will help students find work placement to put their skills into practice.

College Facilities

The college's three campuses are all situated in downtown Montreal: with one campus on Sherbrooke Avenue and two campuses on upmarket St Catherine Street, which is the main street that runs through downtown Montreal. St Catherine Street is the centre for the city's restaurants, designer clothing stores, and malls.

All of the college's three campuses are easily accessed by public transportation. On premises, students will find a library, cafeteria, bookshop, and a variety of student support services.
