Overview

Fanshawe College is located in Canada’s London, Ontario and welcomes over 4,500 international students from more than 75 countries. Known as the ‘Forest City’, surrounded by parks and lakes, London is a vibrant business and cultural hub only two hours from Toronto, Niagara Falls and the USA.

One of Ontario's largest colleges, with additional campuses in Simcoe, St. Thomas and Woodstock, Fanshawe offers more than 200 degree, diploma and certificate programs.

Its campus is set on 100 scenic acres and includes state-of-the-art learning and sports facilities. Students can choose from an array of homestay, residences or private rentals and have access to London Transit bus passes, health plans, the Student Wellness Centre, 200 clubs and 19 athletic teams with Fanshawe’s International Centre providing ongoing support.

Over CAD$370,000 worth of scholarships are available for international students, and Fanshawe’s focus on co-operative education, integrates academic learning and employment allowing students to work while they are studying. Fanshawe College is located in London, Ontario, Canada, only two hours from Toronto, Niagara Falls, and Detroit in the United States. London is known as the ‘Forest City’ and is surrounded by beautiful parks and lakes, as well as being a vibrant business and cultural hub. There are currently 21,000 full-time students at Fanshawe College, including 6,500 international students from 100 different countries.

As one of Ontario's largest colleges, with additional campuses in Simcoe, St. Thomas and Woodstock, as well as campuses in downtown London and London South, Fanshawe offers more than 200 programs at degree, diploma and certificate level.

Fanshawe’s main campus sits on 100 acres of scenic property and includes state-of-the-art learning and athletic facilities. Students can choose from Homestay, on-campus residence or private rentals for their accommodation. All full-time London students receive a London Transit bus pass as part of their fees, as well as access to the Student Wellness Centre. There are many clubs and athletic teams to join or cheer for, and Fanshawe’s International Centre provides ongoing support.

Fanshawe offers more than CAD 5 million in scholarships, including some designed specifically for international students. The college focuses on co-operative education, which integrates academic learning and employment allowing students to “earn while they learn”. The Centre for Research and Innovation enables students to provide solutions to real-world problems presented by industry partners.

Students at Fanshawe are well prepared for professional life. 90.3 percent of Fanshawe graduates find employment within six months of graduating, and 85.8 percent of employers are satisfied with their performances (KPIs 2018-19). The Fanshawe College Alumni Association of 184,000 graduates creates a lasting global connection for all who study at the College.

New Student Wellness Centre

Fanshawe cares about student wellness and has built a new three-storey facility to prove it.

The Student Wellness Centre is now open, offering a comprehensive suite of wellness services and programs. The facility, made possible through a partnership between the College and the Fanshawe Student Union, has been designed to meet the diverse wellness needs of its students.

Fanshawe’s student fees allow its students to access the facility and its comprehensive suite of wellness services at no additional cost.

The new 56,000 square-foot facility Includes:

  • Fitness spaces for cardio, strength training and group exercise
  • The Fowler Kennedy Sports Medicine Clinic
  • London’s tallest climbing wall
  • Massage therapy
  • Pharmacy
  • Booster Juice
  • Nap rooms
  • ... and more!

Fanshawe: Number one in Ontario for graduate employment

According to recently released Key Performance Indicators (KPI) survey results, Fanshawe College graduates rank first in the province for finding employment upon graduation. Survey results indicate 90.3 per cent of Fanshawe alumni find jobs within six months of graduating, exceeding the provincial average of all Ontario colleges by more than four per cent.

With a student satisfaction rate of 77.8 per cent, the results also indicate the college is providing exceptional on campus experiences to students, exceeding the provincial average of 75.7 per cent.

"We are very proud of this year's survey results," said Fanshawe President Peter Devlin. "They are a testament to the hard work of our faculty and staff who prepare our students for careers upon graduation,” he added.

The college also exceeded the provincial average and led all large colleges in Ontario in the following categories:

  • When surveyed six months after graduation, 81.2 per cent of Fanshawe alumni report being pleased with their college education.
  • Fanshawe's overall graduation rate of 69.5 per cent is two per cent above the provincial average of 67.2 per cent. The graduation rates for three and four year programs also ranked first among large colleges.

Additionally, employers who hire Fanshawe graduates are satisfied with the skills and contributions of graduates who work for them, reporting a satisfaction rate of 85.8 per cent.

"While these results show Fanshawe is a leader among large colleges in Ontario, we continue to look for ways to improve our services to students and alumni and providing leading-edge programming to meet the needs of our employers," remarked Devlin.

Fanshawe's KPI results are available to view on the college website. The most recent data was collected from June 2018 to February 2019.

  • Post-Secondary program tuition and fees: *CAD 16,000 to CAD 18,000 (fees vary depending on program).
  • Living expenses: *CAD 10,000 – CAD 12,000
  • Books and other expenses: *CAD 500 – CAD 2,000

*All fees are in Canadian dollars and approximate depending on the program of study. The LTC bus pass is included for full-time London campus students. Housing costs are dependent on living situation (type of accommodation), with on-site residence students having a mandatory meal plan included in fees.

Finding accommodation can often be a daunting task in a new city. Fanshawe College offers students a number of accommodation options through the International Office, with the assistance of the Accommodation Coordinator. Accommodation options include:

Homestay

  • Includes private bedroom, access to a bathroom, laundry facilities and internet access
  • Meals as requested on a chosen meal plan for half board or full board
  • CAD 900 per month for full board, plus a one-time fee of CAD 200 and an administration fee of CAD 75 per payment.

Residence - Falcon House, Peregrine House, Merlin House (apartment-style, on campus)

  • Cost of this accommodation for eight months is CAD 8,825 including a CAD 250 security deposit and CAD 1,200 mandatory meal plan.
  • Each bedroom includes a desk and chair, drawers and closet space
  • Students share a kitchen and living areas, as well as study spaces, movie lounges and laundry services in the accommodation blocks.
  • There is a non-refundable application fee of CAD 525

Residence – Kestrel Court (townhouse, beside the campus)

  • A standard bedroom with a double bed is CAD 7,240 or there is a small bedroom with a single bed costing CAD 6,925 (this includes a security deposit of CAD 250).
  • Each bedroom includes a desk and chair, drawers and closet space
  • Residents share a home with five other students, with a living room, bathrooms and a kitchen (no meals provided).

International students entering a full-time post-secondary program at Fanshawe for the first time may be eligible for an International Entrance Scholarship worth CAD 500 to 2,000.

These entrance scholarships are for international visa students with a valid Study Permit from Korea, Europe/Russia, China, Central America, or South America and for those who are registered full time in Level 1 (or first semester with advanced standing) in any post-secondary program. Students must be in their first post-secondary program at Fanshawe College and meet the English Language requirements as specified for each scholarship.
