In partnership with the prestigious University of Manchester, INTO Manchester offers high quality preparation for international students wanting to study at one of the world's top universities. Through INTO Manchester's pathway programmes, students can progress to a wide range of top ranked undergraduate degrees at The University of Manchester.

The main programme is the International Foundation which has five specialist pathways:

  • Biosciences
  • Engineering and Science
  • Humanities and Social Sciences
  • Pharmacy
  • Psychology

Through the course, students develop their academic and English language skills so they can enter directly onto the first year of an undergraduate degree at The University of Manchester.

There are also Academic English language courses available for students looking to improve their English for further academic study.

The average tuition fees for undergraduate INTO students for three-term pathways in 2021–22 is GBP 19,565. Accommodation costs for three-term pathways in 2021–22 range from GBP 6,000 to GBP 12,000.

In the latest Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), The University of Manchester has placed 35th out of all universities across the globe, and 5th in the UK. The ranking analyses over 1,200 institutions.

This is the highest position the university has ever achieved in the ARWU. It adds to Manchester's list of recent successes, including its highest ever place in the most recent QS World University Rankings.

Part of a global network promoting SDGs

The university is a member of a new global network that is promoting the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Manchester ranks as having one of the best social and environmental impacts across the globe (first in Europe and third in the world - Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings), and this new network is designed to boost contributions from higher education institutions.

Teaching quality

Teaching quality

International students at INTO Manchester are taught by a dedicated and experienced team of teaching staff, who are passionate about their subjects and enthusiastic about the success of their students.

Students benefit from small class sizes, with interactive teaching methods supported by high-quality learning materials and assessment techniques including regular progress reports. All English language courses are accredited by the British Council, and all academic programmes are accredited by the NCUK.

Students are exposed to a full range of teaching methods, including traditional lectures and seminars, as well as enquiry-oriented classes. Participation is encouraged, with interactive class work and virtual materials available to enhance engagement.

Personal Tutors

Incoming international students will each be assigned a Personal Tutor, who will be a regular contact throughout the year, and can help students with their academic work, as well as settling in to student life. They are friendly and approachable, and can provide assistance in numerous areas, and also refer students to the appropriate support services if needed.

Language support

The INTO Centre has a team of language advisors, who assist international students with English language communication.

INTO Student Services

INTO Manchester is proud to provide a broad range of services to support its students throughout their learning experience. The Student Services Team is friendly and approachable, and offers many services and resources, such as an international student orientation scheme, language support and guidance for settling into city life. Upon arrival in the UK, students can receive visa support through workshops and personal meetings.

In addition to this, staff co-ordinate a yearly programme of events and social activities to encourage students to meet new people, make friends and have fun in their new home.

University Link Tutor

INTO students who are aiming to progress to undergraduate study at The University of Manchester are assigned their own University Link Tutor. These tutors meet regularly with their students and monitor progress as well as answering any queries along the way, and are able to organise campus events which relate to their student's specific interests.

Living in Manchester

Manchester is a large city, and students are recommended to take reasonable safety measures, however the university and INTO Centre is mindful of the security and wellbeing of all its students. There is an emergency contact number, which is available 24/7, and all halls of residence provide CCTV surveillance, secure door entry systems, and 24/7 support.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

To be eligible to study at INTO Manchester, international students will need to meet a small number of academic and English language requirements. The following are key criteria for students aiming to undertake an INTO course:

International Foundation

  • Academic requirements – students will need to have completed 12 years of school (or equivalent) and have finished with good grades that reflect the requisite academic ability.
  • English language requirements – depending on the course, students will need a minimum IELTS score of 5.0–6.0, or equivalent.

English Language Courses: Academic English

  • English language requirements – students will need a minimum IELTS score of 3.0, or equivalent.

INTO Manchester Study Centre

All INTO students can take advantage of the INTO Manchester Study Centre, which is located in central Manchester. The facilities have been tailored to international students, allowing them to productively study and socialise in one large space.

Features of the Study Centre include:

  • Computer suites
  • High-speed Wi-Fi throughout
  • Break out areas for studying or relaxing
  • Friendly Student Services team
  • Virtual learning environment

There is also the Learning Resource Centre, which has more than 5,000 materials and facilities to support studies, such as books, journals, magazines, printers and scanners.

Accommodation

INTO students can choose to live either within the lively student community in the campus halls of residence, or they can live with a carefully selected host in a local area.
