The University of Newcastle College of International Education offers alternative pathway opportunities to over 130 undergraduate and postgraduate degree programs at the University of Newcastle.

Foundation Studies

The Foundation Studies program can be completed in either 8 or 12 months and is designed to prepare students for university study, both academically and socially. It's designed to help students increase their English speaking and writing skills as well as academic skills, to ensure a seamless transition to Year 1 of over 100 different bachelor degree options. All courses are taught by dedicated teaching staff in a supportive environment.

Foundation Studies in Medicine

The Foundation Studies in Medicine program provides international students with a pathway into the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine (Joint Medical Program) at the University of Newcastle. This is one of a handful programs of its type in Australia. Successful applicants will receive a packaged offer for both Foundation Studies in Medicine and the Bachelor of Medical Science and Doctor of Medicine. Progression rules do apply.

Degree Transfer

These specialised Degree Transfer programs are equivalent to the first year of a bachelor's degree at the University of Newcastle. They include English language tuition, study skills, problem solving and communications skills, as well as the introduction to a chosen specialty. Successful completion of a Degree Transfer program allows students to progress into the second year of an undergraduate degree without the need to provide any additional test results.

Pre-Master's Program

This offers a direct pathway for international students looking to study a master's degree at the University of Newcastle. The duration of this program is two trimesters. Students will begin studying their university subjects in their second trimester. On completing this program, students will receive credit points towards their postgraduate degrees.
