The University of Bridgeport is an independent university located in Bridgeport, Connecticut. Known as one of the most nationally diverse establishments in the USA, students come from all over the world to study there. The student population represents 80 different countries, and 45 states.
The main campus stretches over 50 acres, overlooks the Long Island Sound and boasts spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean. Facilities include a state-of-the-art athletics field and a newly-built digital library complete with journals, articles and electronic books. Throughout their time at Bridgeport, students are encouraged to get involved in new activities and leadership opportunities by joining one of the many clubs and organisations on offer at the University.
Students are supported by a range of services throughout their time at the institution. These include a counselling team on hand to help sort out any personal worries or concerns, a health team, a housing advisor and support for students with disabilities.
The University's Centre for Career Development has created a 'Four-Year Career Development Plan' to help students through all the stages of finding work – from figuring out what career path they want to take, to getting through the interview process.
The city of Bridgeport has plenty of things for students to do in their spare time, with cultural attractions including theatres, museums, parks, cinemas and Beardsley Zoo – the only one in the entire state. Bridgeport is also located close to both Boston and New York City, with the two major cities boasting plenty of iconic attractions, as well as access to some of the world's largest companies and organisations – something students can take advantage of when applying for internships and work opportunities after their degree.
