Overview

The University of South Australia (UniSA) is a globally recognised institution offering over 200 world-class degrees to students from around the world.

Based in the stunning city of Adelaide, it boasts two city centre campuses, two further metropolitan campuses in the city and two more regional campuses out of the city, with state-of-the-art facilities across all sites.

What’s new

The University of South Australia continues to demonstrate its strength as a globally connected and engaged university. In the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings, the University maintained its strong position at number 26 in the THE Young University Rankings. This is a great result for an institution which is still only 28 years old and highlights the university’s commitment to being young and innovative, particularly given the increasing competition from other young universities.

The University also performed strongly in the THE Impact Rankings in April 2019, and was recognised as eighth in the world for its quality education, number three worldwide for reducing inequality and ranked 22nd globally for overall university impact.

UniSA’s Vice Chancellor, Professor David Lloyd said, “As our University grows, responds to changing demographics, changing technologies and changing higher education funding models, maintaining and improving our commitment to equity, access and engagement, is core.”

What's new

Covid-19 update

Covid-19 has affected students globally, however UniSA has plans in place to facilitate students' study. The university is adapting and doing things differently so that students can still pursue their goals and plan for their future.

UniSA has a range of degrees available which include courses that can be started online as part of the September 2020 intake. Once students apply, they will be sent a customised study plan mapping out how the online to on campus process works so students can start their studies online and transfer to Adelaide later.

Students are encouraged to consult the university website to answer FAQs and to find out more.

UniSA highly ranked

The University of South Australia continues to demonstrate its strength as a globally connected and engaged university. In the latest rankings the university rose to number 25 in the 2020 THE Young University Rankings and to number 29 in the QS Top 50 Under 50. This is a great result for an institution which is still only 29 years old and highlights the university's commitment to being young and innovative, particularly given the increasing competition from other young universities.

The university also performed strongly in the THE Impact Rankings in 2020, and was recognised as number one in Australia for its quality education, sixth worldwide and in the top 100 for overall university impact.

University of South Australia was established in 1991 but it?s foundations date back to the latter half of the 19th century. The forerunners of today?s University were the South Australian School of Art, founded in 1856, the first of several Teacher Training Colleges formed in 1876, and the School of Mines and Industries which was established in 1889. These schools were renowned for providing quality education and for responding to the needs of the nascent colony of South Australia.

Study in the heart of the city centre, in an area rich in history and culture. City East is home to modern health science facilities and the School of Natural and Built Environments. On the edge of Adelaide?s central business district, City West houses studies in business, law, art, architecture, design, Indigenous cultures and Australian society. In Adelaide?s leafy eastern suburbs, Magill hosts programs in the areas of education, humanities and social sciences. The progressive area of Mawson Lakes just 12km north of the city, here students can study civil aviation, education, engineering, environmental studies, information technology, science, and sport and recreation management.
