California State University - Chico
Chico State was founded in 1887, making it the second oldest CSU campus in the state. It is one of the oldest post-secondary institutions in California and among the most highly ranked public universities in the West. California State University, Chico is a comprehensive university principally serving Northern California, it’s state and nation through excellence in instruction, research, creative activity, and public service. It welcomes students and educators from over 40 countries around the world. Hundreds of it’s U.S. students choose to study abroad in 26 countries.
California State University, Chico offers high-quality academic programs in a safe and comfortable environment. It offers over 300 undergraduate and graduate academic programs. These include 66 undergraduate majors in the liberal arts and in professional and technical areas. Many of it’s majors are divided into areas of specialization either as options. In addition students may choose from a wide variety of minors, teaching credentials, certificates, and graduate programs. Pre-professional advising is available in several areas for students who plan to continue on to professional schools. The Office of International Education provides various kinds of support for degree seeking and non-degree seeking international students, U.S. students studying abroad and participants in International Training programs.
CSU, Chico is located in the heart of downtown Chico. Most students live within a five to ten minute walk or bike ride from campus. Downtown Chico provides many shopping and dining opportunities . It is described as one of the most beautiful campuses in the CSU system. The Chico Area has many outdoor recreational opportunities.
