The University of Rhode Island, a state’s flagship public university, was chartered as the state’s agricultural school in 1888. It is the State’s public learner centred research university. The University is committed to enriching the lives of its students through its land, sea, and urban grant traditions. URI is the only public institution in Rhode Island offering undergraduate, graduate, and professional students the distinctive educational opportunities of a major research university. It’s undergraduate, graduate, and professional education, research, and outreach serve Rhode Island and beyond. The University of Rhode Island offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, Ph.D.’s and professional degrees in their eight academic colleges, Arts and Sciences, Business Administration , Engineering, Environment & Life Sciences, Human Science and Services, Nursing, Pharmacy and the Graduate School of Oceanography. It offers interdisciplinary minors, unique double majors, and international programs that are world renowned.
The main campus of the University of Rhode Island is located in Kingston, 30 miles south of Providence, 75 miles from Boston, and 160 miles from New York City. It is a small, beautiful place and the location inspires students and faculty to learn and discover daily.
