Wayne State University
Wayne State has been an innovative urban center of higher learning since 1868, when a group of Civil War doctors envisioned a better world through better medicine. Since its founding as the Detroit Medical College, it has grown to become one of the 50 largest public universities in the United States, offering nearly 350 degree and certificate programs through 13 schools and colleges. Since 1915, Wayne State University has been accredited by the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, one of six regional accrediting agencies in the United States that provides accreditation to colleges and universities at the institutional level.
