Sydney School of Business and Technology (SSBT) is a long-established college in Australia. It meets the needs of students, employers and industries within business and technology.

Pathway partners

Pathway partners

SSBT's pathway partners act as avenues for students to enter highly popular courses. Students can continue their studies with one of the college's pathway partners and move on to industry-focused bachelor's degrees. Students may receive offers and Confirmations of Enrolment (COEs) from both SSBT and a pathway partner, thus saving them time and money.

University of New England (UNE)

University of New England (UNE) and SSBT have a cooperative agreement whereby SSBT undertakes to provide a pathway for international students to undergraduate and postgraduate programs at UNE.

It is now possible for students to enrol with SSBT and UNE together as part of the pathway partners program and supplement their studies with popular courses, as part of a combined package offering in the heart of Sydney.

Torrens University

Torrens University is a registered vocational training organisation which partners with prestigious schools and colleges to enable students to gain a fresh and global perspective regarding higher education. Students can enrol with SSBT and Torrens jointly and enrich their academic journey with a combined package in most major Australian capital cities.

Macleay College

For almost 35 years now, Macleay College has brought an industry-focused approach to teaching and learning that equips students with skills required for their career. Macleay's project-based learning helps students gain experience and access to industry networks.

Campus locations

SSBT operates out of three campuses: one in New South Wales and two in Queensland.

Burwood

SSBT's main campus is located in the multicultural suburb of Burwood, ten minutes away from Sydney. Conveniently located right next to a train station and a bus stop, this campus, which features a brand-new building, is well-equipped and well-guarded, so students can feel safe and secure. SSBT's bright classrooms, with multimedia projectors and modern furniture make studying a pleasure. Easy
access to Wi-Fi access makes it easy to stay connected. Hospitality students at Burwood have access to a specialized hospitality room that is designed to recreate a restaurant environment to give students an insight into a real-world bar or restaurant environment.

There is a Westfield shopping mall near the campus. The area also has some of the best Chinese food in Australia and accommodation options that are reasonably priced compared to those closer to the city. For lovers of the outdoors, Burwood, though a city in itself, offers plenty of outdoor options without the noise and pollution of bigger cities.

Brisbane

SSBT's state-of-the-art Brisbane campus is right in the heart of the capital city of Queensland. The campus is a short walk some of the city's best shopping and restaurants and public transport. Easily accessible beaches also offer many opportunities to enjoy life in Australia to the fullest.

Gold Coast

Gold Coast, with its sunny subtropical climate, is a major tourist destination is widely renowned for its surfing, theme parks, rainforest hinterland and much more. SSBT's campus is located in the Gold Coast Broadwater, also known as Southport. The area is a popular marine playground for tourists and locals alike. Study options

SSBT offers a range of courses through five faculties, namely:

  • Information Technology
  • Hospitality
  • Child Care
  • Management
  • Accounting
  • Cookery
  • Business

Courses at SSBT are offered at various levels, ranging from certificate courses to diplomas and advanced diplomas, and at the postgraduate level, graduate certificates and graduate diplomas. Subject areas covered across the courses include Information technology, commercial cookery, hospitality management, project management, early childhood education and care, accounting and bookkeeping and digital technology.

SSBT also offers General English programs, so as to help international students:

  • Improve their communication skills
  • Open doors to better prospects
  • Travel and experience Australia

The English program is also aimed at helping international students with job interviews, creating documents and presentations, airing opinions, and meeting and talking with new people.

Entry requirements

Entry requirements

Entry requirements to SSBT's courses vary according to the different courses and study levels, but are broadly as follows:

Students need to have completed the equivalent of an Australian Year 10 or Year 11 at least, to begin their studies at the Certificate III level. Those students who have already completed the equivalent of an Australian Year 12 by the time they apply to SSBT are eligible for entry into a Certificate IV or Diploma level course. However, each study area has its own set of requirements, so it is recommended that students refer to the course-specific information on the website.

English proficiency will also need to be demonstrated, for which results in examinations such as the IELTS need to be submitted. The general minimum score in the IELTS needs to be 6.0, but some courses may need a 7.0 depending on their requirements. Other English tests deemed valid are the TOEFL and the Pearson test of English (PTE). Scores obtained on most approved English tests are only valid for a period of two years.

Campus life

SSBT offers students the opportunity to be a part of a wide range of social activities to help them relax and connect with people while in Australia. Activities that help students switch off from their academic routine include the following:

  • Games: SSBT's student common rooms are ideal places to unwind and play a variety of games on offer, such as foosball, air hockey, table tennis, or just hang out with friends.
  • BBQ: Students can join their friends and faculty for a cookout or kebab on the Barbecue, and get to spend quality time interacting with people, outside of the academic environment.
  • Festivals: A lot of religious festivals and special occasions are celebrated on campus, with students and teachers joining in the fun. There are also great occasions for people to bond.
  • Parties: Parties offer students the opportunity to beat the stress with some music and scintillating conversation.
  • Graduation: SSBT's graduation ceremony ensures that students leave with cherished memories and nostalgia for the happy days gone by.
