Taylors College Sydney provides pathway programmes for international students wishing to study at one of the top 50 universities in the world, the University of Sydney.

As the number one university in Australia for employability, 95 percent of students who complete a course at Taylors College receive an offer to the University of Sydney.

The University of Sydney Foundation Programme (USFP) is a focused programme that is considered a pathway to the University of Sydney, a prestigious university in Australia.

Students can choose from a range of start dates and programme options all through the year tailored to their academic needs. This programme is the combination of the educational expertise of Taylors College and the University of Sydney.

Students who are enrolled with the University of Sydney Foundation Programme will receive a conditional offer from the university to study a degree.

On completion of the compulsory subjects, students can choose from different elective subjects, to help build the base for their future degree at the University of Sydney.

Entry requirements

  • Applicants for the Intensive Foundation Programme must have superior grades in English and relevant subjects.
  • The Standard Foundation Programme requires average grades in relevant subjects and English.
  • The Extended Foundation Programme is for those who did not qualify for the Standard Programme, or for those looking to build a more solid base in key subjects like the sciences or mathematics. Forecast results are accepted for this wherever it is appropriate.

Taylors College will only accept student applications if results indicate that students will be able to pass its offered programmes. Only international students can gain entry to the University of Sydney Foundation Programme.

High Achievers Preparation Programme

High Achievers Preparation Programme

The High Achievers Preparation Program (HAPP) is specifically designed for students who have achieved excellent academic results and possess advanced English language skills. For students who missed the opportunity to gain direct entry to the University of Sydney, this programme helps fast-track students into a bachelor's degree at the university in the first year, within five months. Students will be assisted through the dedicated mentoring programme that will ensure that they are on track.

The programme was created by the University of Sydney and Taylors College Sydney's combined educational expertise.

The programme has a duration of a maximum of 18 weeks (two terms) preparing students for their study at the University of Sydney. There are four subjects, each of which will take up five hours in a week, for a total class time of 20 hours each week.

This programme is competency-based with students required to be competent in all subjects as well as meeting the English entry requirements to be able progress to undergraduate study at the University of Sydney. HAPP is offered by Study Group Australia Pty Limited trading as Taylors College on behalf of the University of Sydney.

Entry requirements

The High Achievers Preparation Programme requires applicants to have achieved excellent grades in English and relevant academic subjects. Forecast results are accepted for this programme where appropriate. Only international students can gain entry to the High Achievers Preparation Programme.

Taylors is home to a purpose-built campus that provides students with everything required to complete their studies successfully. There are numerous ways for students to make friends on campus, including many clubs for an enriching student experience. Students enjoy access to various facilities including:

  • A library (students can learn from the University of Sydney's high-quality research materials).
  • A music suite with practice rooms
  • Art and design studios
  • Student common rooms
  • Telescopes for astronomy
  • A health centre (this centre is equipped with facilities and is open all through the day for students)

Students can choose to stay online as Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus. They can borrow iPads and make use of computer rooms when necessary.

Taylors has an online learning system shared by students and teachers of the college. Activities and materials required for studies can be accessed through the system.

Students can get information they need on the curriculum and assessments through study guides. These also include practice examination papers to help students prepare.

For students who have questions, there are group sessions which are led by a teacher and meetings that are conducted as one-on-ones.

Graduate outcomes

Almost 100 per cent of students at Taylors go on to further studies at a tertiary institution on completion of their studies. Taylors helps students transition smoothly to undergraduate degree study. Its small class sizes provide students with individualised attention from experienced teachers.

The University of Sydney Foundation Programme (USFP) and High Achievers Preparation Programme (HAPP) help develop critical thinking and independent learning skills in students.

Results from 2018:

  • 95 per cent of USFP students gained an admission offer from the University of Sydney
  • 90.6 per cent of USFP students scored a GPA higher than 6.5
  • 100 per cent of students from HAPP received admission offers from the University of Sydney
