North Island College was established in 1975 as a primarily distance education institution. The College that started out of a portable trailer in Campbell River and a few converted school buses now has an international reputation for integrating Aboriginal perspectives into the curriculum of nursing schools across Canada. Over the past 40 years, more than 155,000 people have taken a course or completed a program at NIC.

From university studies to apprenticeship training, upgrading courses to degree programs, NIC offers a wide range of programs and courses to help students reach their goals. Students will study in the picturesque Comox Valley where an adventure and quality education await them. The class sizes are small, and tuition is affordable. With an exclusive array of transfer agreements, NIC is also a great place to start studies and transfer seamlessly to university.

The college now serves students at Campbell River, Comox Valley, Port Alberni and Mixalakwila campuses, as well as through many in-community programs delivered in partnership with remote communities across 80,000 km from Ucluelet on Vancouver Island?s west coast to Bella Coola on the central mainland.
