What's new

University continues to expand in the very heart of Newcastle

The university continues its development into the city centre, complete with the revelation of the design for the Honeysuckle City Campus Development's first building. A sleek, transparent, and sophisticated building along with smart glazing, this building is designed to build a 'stage within the city'. The campus will house new facilities as well as an Innovation Hub for the university's School of Creative Industries.

The building which costs AUD 25 million will offer students a number of flexible spaces which are capable of responding to the dynamic needs of the users. These spaces will include state-of-the-art studios for teaching and learning, event and exhibition facilities, co-working and networking spaces, as well as places for informal collaboration. The construction will begin soon and the works are expected to be completed in late 2020.

Prestigious Australian-American Fulbright Scholarships awarded to university's researchers

Three researchers at the University of Newcastle were awarded the prestigious Australian-American Fulbright Scholarships, in recognition of their potential to create a global impact in their respective fields.

The scholars, Professor Scott Donne, Dr. Julie McIntyre, as well as Professor Philip Dwyer, will spend as many as six months in the United States, collaborating with academic colleagues, sharing their knowledge, and also engaging broader communities in the USA through seminars, workshops, and public lectures.

The Fulbright Program is the leading programme in foreign exchange scholarship in the USA, aimed at enhancing the exchange of ideas, binational research collaboration, and cultural understanding.

Professor Scott Donne, who is an Electrochemist in the School of Environmental and Life Sciences, and Professor Philip Dwyer, the founding Director of the Centre for the History of Violence at the university, have each been awarded the Fulbright Senior Scholarship.

How to apply?

Undergraduate and Postgraduate Applicants

Online

For undergraduate as well as postgraduate programmes, if international students have access to internet, they can apply through the university's Online Direct Admissions tool. Students can save their online application after they have started and revisit later.

Paper-based

If students cannot access the application online, they can complete a paper application and send it. Students can choose the programme they want to apply for, and send their completed application form. There is no cost involved in applying directly.

In order to apply, students will need to produce certified or original documents listed below. Students' application will only be processed when the university has received these documents:

FEBE Golden Jubilee Commemorative International Scholarship

This scholarship awards up to AUD 140,000 for the duration of a degree taken by a student. It supports and encourages international students who are academically gifted to enrol in a program with the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment at the University of Newcastle (Callaghan campus), with a long-term goal of pursuing a higher research degree.

India International Excellence Scholarship

Indian students with a strong academic background could be eligible to receive the International Excellence Scholarship valued up to AUD 15,000.

Global Leaders Scholarship

Students from Africa, Latin America, Middle East, South Asia and South-East Asia looking to begin an undergraduate or postgraduate Business or Law program, are eligible for a scholarship of up to AUD 12,500.

The University of Newcastle offers a wide range of undergraduate, postgraduate and research degrees. An undergraduate, or Bachelor's degree, is usually students first degree at university and their pathway into their future career. Students will have access to world-class researchers and teachers, purpose-built facilities and first-rate student support. Postgraduate study gives students the edge when it comes to advancing or changing their career.
